Sugar Cookie Dough:
1½ cups salted butter softened
2 cups sugar
With a hand mixer, cream the butter and sugar together until it is smooth
and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time.
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Blend in the vanilla.
Gradually add flour and baking powder.
5 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
Wrap dough in plastic wrap and chill for a couple of hours.
Preheat oven to 400°
Generously sprinkle powdered sugar (not flour) onto a
clean counter top and roll half of the dough to 1/2 inch thick with a rolling pin.
Use cookie cutters to cut out desired shapes and set them
on ungreased cookie sheets.
Bake for 6 to 8 min.
Cream Cheese Frosting:
8 oz. cream cheese softened at room temperature
½ cup salted butter softened at room temperature
4&1/2 cups powdered sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Mix cream cheese and butter with an electric hand-held mixer, Add
vanilla. Beat until light and fluffy. Add powder sugar, one cup at a time. Beat until
smooth. Add your favorite food coloring if desired.
